My next stop after Great Averill Pond was Forest Lake, just to its east. There's no general agreement on what makes a body of water a "pond" as opposed to a "lake", but usually size is at least some part of the consideration. Thus, it's kind of funny that Great Averill Pond is at least ten times the area of Forest Lake.
The lake was completely socked in with pea-soup fog, so thick you can barely make out the far shore in this image, even though it was only a few hundred feet away. There was a beautiful maple in full foliage display above a small boat on the shore that was impossible to resist.
