The gondola drops you half way up the mountain, in what is called the "bowl area", at an elevation of 9,047 feet. It was noticeably cooler up there, compared to the valley, though the air didn't seem substantially thinner.

I had a toddler on my hands and not much time, so I wasn't able to go any closer to the summit than my camera would allow me to travel.
